Orthodontics with Braces in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Despite technological advancements, fixed orthodontics with braces remains one of the most effective, predictable, and versatile systems for correcting any type of malocclusion or dental crowding, from the simplest to the most complex cases.

In Nubis Dental Dental ClinicLocated in the central Guanarteme neighbourhood (a stone's throw from the Mesa y López shopping area and in the Canteras-Puerto district), we specialise in designing smiles using fixed appliances. We offer a friendly approach and a precise diagnosis to determine which type of braces best suits your clinical and personal needs.

Types of Brackets We Offer
at Nubis Dental Dental Clinic

Every mouth is unique, which is why at our clinic in Las Palmas we work with different options to suit your case and your budget:

Conventional Metal Braces

They are the most traditional and well-known option. They are highly resistant and the most economical alternative. Using small ligatures (elastics), the metal arch exerts constant and controlled pressure to guide the teeth into their correct position. They are an excellent option for both teenagers and adults.

Aesthetic Brackets (Ceramic or Sapphire)

Designed for those seeking a much more discreet option than traditional metal, but with the same effectiveness. These braces are made from materials (such as sapphire crystal or advanced ceramic) that blend in with the natural colour of your tooth enamel, making them barely perceptible at medium distance. They are the perfect alternative for adult and teenage patients who wish to maintain the aesthetic appearance of their smile during treatment, but prefer the convenience of fixed braces over removable aligners.

Self-ligating Brackets (Less friction, greater speed)

This is the evolution of the traditional brace. Unlike conventional ones, self-ligating braces do not use elastic ligatures ("rubber bands"). They incorporate a "clip" or gate system that holds the archwire passively. This reduces friction, provides greater patient comfort, facilitates hygiene, and in many cases, can slightly shorten the total treatment time and space out visits to the clinic.

Stages of your treatment with Braces

To guarantee the success of your new smile, we follow a rigorous clinical process:

  1. Full study: Taking X-rays, photographs, and planning the necessary movements.
  2. Cementing Placement of the brackets on the surface of the teeth and fitting of the first archwire. It is a completely painless process.
  3. Regular reviews You will attend the clinic (usually every 4 to 6 weeks) to adjust the wires and reactivate the forces that move your teeth.
  4. Removal and polishing Once perfect alignment has been achieved, we remove the braces and polish the enamel for a flawless finish.
  5. Retention Phase As with any orthodontic treatment, we will fit retainers (fixed and/or removable) to ensure your teeth do not move back.

Frequently Asked Questions about Orthodontics with Braces

The fitting (cementing) process does not hurt. However, it is completely normal to feel sensitivity, pressure, or discomfort when chewing for the first few days after fitting and after each adjustment appointment. You may also experience minor rubbing on your cheeks or lips at first, which can be easily resolved by applying orthodontic wax.

The high-quality sapphire or ceramic braces we use at our clinic do not stain or change colour. What might slightly darken if you consume a lot of coffee, tea, or tobacco are the small transparent "elastics" that hold the archwire, but don't worry, as we will change them for new ones at each monthly check-up so your appliance looks spotless again.

The estimated time depends entirely on the complexity of the patient's initial malocclusion. Simpler treatments can last between 12 and 18 months, while more complex cases may require 24 months or longer. During your free initial consultation, we will provide you with an accurate time estimate.

The final cost will vary depending on the type of braces chosen (metal, aesthetic, or self-ligating) and the estimated treatment duration. At Clínica Dental Nubis Dental (Guanarteme – Mesa y López area), we will provide you with a fixed and transparent quote following your first free consultation, with options for Bespoke financing to make payment convenient.
